The Restore & Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis

The Memphis ReStore is operated by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis. All proceeds from the ReStore benefit the programs of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit ecumenical Christian housing ministry that is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in the city of Memphis and surrounding areas, while making decent housing for all people a matter of conscience and action. The organization works to build simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with low-income families.

Habitat works with sponsors, volunteers and the homeowner families to build simple, decent homes. The homes are then sold to Habitat’s partner families, at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families invest hundreds of hours of their own labor — sweat equity— into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving “Fund for Humanity” that is used to support the affiliate and help more local families. Habitat for Humanity does not provide free housing. It is not a federal government program or transitional housing provider.
